Various small and medium-sized companies rely on the open source product Nextcloud to store data in a dedicated environment. Even European governments are already using Nextcloud or are planning to do so.
Thanks to various additional apps, a Nextcloud installation can provide a large portfolio ranging from collaboration solutions to online office applications and meeting platforms.
This Nextcloud course provides a hands-on approach to installing Nextcloud on your own platforms. An upgrade procedure and the persistent storage of data are also addressed.
In the further course, we deal with the use of various client solutions on PCs and mobile devices. The authorization concept including multi-factor authentication and the installation of additional apps from the integrated app store are also actively tested.

- Setup on an Ubuntu VM
- Setup as a container solution with many automations using Docker-Compose
- Incl. background information on container virtualization
- Tools used: MariaDB, Redis, nginx-proxy & letsencrypt-companion
- Upgrade procedure
- Backup of the persistent volumes - Use and setup of the client on Windows or Linux
- Use of the Nextcloud app on the cell phone
- Use of CalDAV and CardDAV protocols to synchronize calendar and contact data
- Authorization concept
- Multi-factor authentication
- nstallation and use of apps from the Nextcloud Appstore
You will receive a Lab Guide as well as the documentation developed jointly in the workshop in digital form.

Hybrid training
- Hybrid training means that online participants can additionally attend a classroom course. The dynamics of a real seminar are maintained, and the online participants are able to benefit from that. Online participants of a hybrid course use a collaboration platform, such as WebEx Training Center or Saba Meeting. To do this, a PC with browser and Internet access is required, as well as a headset and ideally a Web cam. In the seminar room, we use specially developed and customized audio- and video-technologies. This makes sure that the communication between all persons involved works in a convenient and fault-free way.
