BGP is very scalable and is used as a routing protocol in large IP networks - such as the Internet. It is used in the ISP area both between the autonomous systems (AS) and within the AS. Due to its properties, it is also used in the MPLS VPN concept - here both in the access area and in the core. BGP therefore plays a central role in the service provider environment. Enterprise administrators also need BGP know-how, as BGP can be used here when connecting to the WAN. As BGP is of such central importance for accessibility, particular emphasis is placed on reliability and availability. In the event of a fault, it is therefore essential to carry out efficient troubleshooting. The practical knowledge imparted here enables participants to systematically troubleshoot complex routing scenarios with BGP.
