With an extensive landscape of libraries for data processing, analysis and visualization as well as architecture of machine learning models, the Python programming language offers an ideal platform for data scientists. Participants of the training will quickly learn the most important basics of the Python programming language and work through the fundamentals of handling data (including import, processing, analysis and presentation) in interactive exercises. The workshop also gives a first insight into the topic of Machine Learning and works on a first example based on a classification.

Course Contents

  • Basics of the Python programming language
  • Efficient numerical calculations (with numpy)
  • Processing and explorative analysis of data (with pandas)
  • Visualization (e.g. matplotlib, plotly)
  • Machine Learning concepts at a glance (e.g. algorithmic and statistical basics, learning scenarios, metrics, evaluation)
  • Machine Learning Pipeline using classification as an example (with scikit-learn)
  • Interactive material and interactive exercises throughout (using Jupyter notebooks).

Participants will work with interactive electronic materials.

Target Group

The workshop is aimed at users who are looking for an introduction to the topic of data analysis and its implementation with Python. The workshop teaches theoretical and practical basics and uses extensive interactive exercises for direct application and subsequent deepening of understanding.

Knowledge Prerequisites

Participants in this workshop should have an interest in working with data and statistical methods, as well as be familiar with basic programming. Basic knowledge of the Python programming language is an advantage.

Classroom training

Hybrid training

Hybrid training means that online participants can additionally attend a classroom course. The dynamics of a real seminar are maintained, and the online participants are able to benefit from that. Online participants of a hybrid course use a collaboration platform, such as WebEx Training Center or Saba Meeting. To do this, a PC with browser and Internet access is required, as well as a headset and ideally a Web cam. In the seminar room, we use specially developed and customized audio- and video-technologies. This makes sure that the communication between all persons involved works in a convenient and fault-free way.

Online training
