IPv6 in Applications

Getting Applications Ready for the Future

ExperTeach Networking Logo

While many organizations have already started the migration to IPv6 networks, applications are often neglected during this transition. Networks and infrastructure are often already IPv6-capable, but many applications have not been adequately prepared for the requirements of IPv6. This leads to incompatibilities and operational disruptions. With the impending complete switchover to IPv6, it is becoming increasingly urgent for companies to make their software solutions and applications fit for operation in IPv6 networks.

This IPv6 course aims to close this gap. It teaches in detail how applications can be developed and adapted for IPv6. Participants will learn about the differences in design and functionality of IPv6 compared to IPv4 and how to successfully integrate these differences into their software projects. Typical challenges such as the support of multiple addresses, the absence of broadcasts and the use of ICMPv6 will be covered. Participants will also gain valuable insights into dual-stack programming to support IPv4 and IPv6 in parallel.

Course Contents

  • Introduction to IPv6: Special features and design differences to IPv4
  • Address types, address structure and configuration of IPv6
  • Dual-stack programming and migration of applications
  • Programming with the socket API (C, C++, Java, Python, etc.)
  • Testing and optimizing IPv6-capable applications
  • IPv6 in various programming languages
  • RFCs for IPv6 in applications

ExperTeach Digital Symbol The detailed digital documentation package, consisting of an e-book and PDF, is included in the price of the course.

Target Group

Developers, software architects and IT professionals who want to make applications IPv6-ready or use them in IPv6 environments.

Knowledge Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of (network) programming and network knowledge, knowledge of IPv4 in applications.

Classroom training

Do you prefer the classic training method? A course in one of our Training Centers, with a competent trainer and the direct exchange between all course participants? Then you should book one of our classroom training dates!

Hybrid training

Hybrid training means that online participants can additionally attend a classroom course. The dynamics of a real seminar are maintained, and the online participants are able to benefit from that. Online participants of a hybrid course use a collaboration platform, such as WebEx Training Center or Saba Meeting. To do this, a PC with browser and Internet access is required, as well as a headset and ideally a Web cam. In the seminar room, we use specially developed and customized audio- and video-technologies. This makes sure that the communication between all persons involved works in a convenient and fault-free way.

Online training

You wish to attend a course in online mode? We offer you online course dates for this course topic. To attend these seminars, you need to have a PC with Internet access (minimum data rate 1Mbps), a headset when working via VoIP and optionally a camera. For further information and technical recommendations, please refer to.

Tailor-made courses

You need a special course for your team? In addition to our standard offer, we will also support you in creating your customized courses, which precisely meet your individual demands. We will be glad to consult you and create an individual offer for you.
