Cisco Recertification

Recertification

The recertification is an important indicator to you and your employer that you have kept up with current technology trends and have validated your skills at the rigorous level of the original certification exam.

There is a three-year recertification requirement for all certification levels. Certified individuals can recertify by completing continuing education (Cisco Continuing Education program), taking exams, or a combination of both. All certifications are active for three years from the date of certification. Each time the recertification requirements are met, the active status of the certification is extended for an additional three years.</p

Recertification requirements must be met prior to the certification expiration date. Individuals with expired certifications must complete the full examination process again to maintain active status. Recertification can be accomplished at any time during the active period by advancing to the next level of certification, earning continuing education credits, or a combination of both.

Visit the Cisco Career Certifications Tracking System to check the status of your certification(s).

Cisco Continuing Education Program

The Cisco Continuing Education program is a recertification option for all active Associate, Specialist, Professional and Expert level certificants. It offers candidates several opportunities to maintain and enhance their skills through recertification. Choose from a variety of qualification options to earn credits toward recertification.

Active certification holders can select from a list of approved continuing education activities to use for recertification. Each qualifying continuing education option has an assigned credit value. Complete any combination of activities to achieve the number of continuing education credits required for your certification.

As of November 28, 2023, upon completion of an approved CE continuing education option, in most cases, the CE credits earned will automatically be applied to the candidate's profile and thus toward recertification.

This applies to the following activities:

  • Most Instructor-Led Training (ILT) provided by Cisco or an authorized Cisco Learning Partner*.
  • E-Learning Training (ELT) from Cisco Digital Learning, CLN Store and Cisco U.
  • Cisco Live Technical Sessions
  • Capture the Flag (CTF) Missions at Cisco Live

*If you select a training course for recertification that you have already completed, please note that this is only possible if the content of the training course has received a comprehensive update (major update - not a minor update) in the meantime. We will be happy to help you clarify this.</p

Make sure that your Cisco.com account IDs (CCO) are associated with your certification profile (CSCO) and that you have logged in to the CE portal and accepted the user agreement.

Candidates can check their earned CE points via the CE Portal and track their recertification progress via the Certification Tracking System or the CCIE Portal. If candidates find a discrepancy or need to assign additional CCO IDs to their CSCO profile, they should open a case.

The detailed conditions and rules for the program can be found here: Cisco Continuing Education - Cisco
