What are Cisco Learning Credits?
Cisco Learning Credits (CLCs) are a type of prepaid voucher for Cisco training courses. 1 CLC has the value of $100. Companies can redeem them for training courses, certifications and other educational offers (such as participation in Cisco Live). The condition is that these are Cisco-related measures offered by Cisco or an authorized Cisco Learning Partner.
How to get them
Credits can be purchased like any other Cisco hardware, software or license (through the channel partner, distributor or Cisco directly). They have their own order numbers in the Cisco order portal. It often makes sense to include and purchase these credits in the budgeting for a project, for example. This is linked to cost control: training investments are already planned, which enables a better budget overview.
What can CLCs be redeemed for?
- Instructor-led training (ILT): face-to-face or online training with a trainer.
- E-learning courses: Self-directed learning via the Cisco Learning Platform - Cisco U.
- Certifications: Preparation and exams for Cisco certifications such as CCNA, CCNP or CCIE.
- Workshops and lab access: Practical exercises in realistic scenarios.
How many CLCs do you need for a particular course?
You can see the number of CLCs required on the ExperTeach website, for example, where the list price is shown in euros.
Who manages the CLCs in a company?
A team captain must be appointed for administration within the company. This person then has access to a tool called Cisco Learning Credits Management. There they can see the status of existing and redeemed CLCs, the order number and the order processes. They can also see how long the CLCs are still valid. The Team Captain must approve the requests to redeem CLCs within his company. They can nominate a preferred Learning Partner, such as ExperTeach, to Cisco and are then supported by this Learning Partner with regard to the redemption of CLCs.
How can you find out who is the team captain for the CLCs?
You can either get in touch with your contact person who works with Cisco in your own company or get in touch with your contact person at Cisco or contact ExperTeach. We will then ensure that Cisco informs the requesting employee of the Team Captain.
How long are the CLCs valid?
They are generally valid for 1 year from the date of purchase and must be used for measures that fall within this validity period. The decisive factor here is the date on which the measure was carried out, not the date on which the measure was ordered. If the credits simply expire, a monetary value is actually lost. This is not exactly uncommon in companies, which is why Cisco and we as Learning Partners try to draw attention to CLCs. You should at least check whether there are any unused credits in the company.
How do we help our customers to use their CLCs optimally?
We advise the customer on the selection of suitable training measures, provide support with the administrative handling of CLCs and can also take over the entire redemption process if required.
