Please note: The current DevNet certification path will be renamed CCNA, CCNP, and CCIE Automation in February 2026. Starting February 3, 2026, all individuals with active DevNet Associate, Professional, or Expert certifications will automatically be recognized as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE Automation certified.
The DevNet certification program, unique to Cisco, validates the skills of professional software developers, DevOps engineers, automation specialists and other software professionals. The program certifies key skills for a new breed of IT professionals and empowers organizations to harness the potential of applications, automation and infrastructure for the network, Internet of Things (IoT), DevOps and Webex.
Each exam in the DevNet Professional program earns an individual professional certification, so you will be recognized for your achievements along the way.
There are no formal prerequisites for the DevNet Professional, however you should have a good understanding of the exam topics prior to the exams, which the relevant coursework will help you with. DevNet Professional candidates ideally have three to five years of experience in software development, including Python programming.
To earn the certification, you will pass two exams: A core exam and another specialized exam of your choice.
