Learning to build Kubernetes applications opens up career opportunities in high-demand positions in DevOps, cloud engineering, and containerization. Using Python, this course teaches how to define application resources and use core primitives to build, monitor, and troubleshoot scalable applications in Kubernetes - including working with network plugins, security, and cloud storage to deploy applications in a production environment.
-
Course Contents
-
- Introduction
- Kubernetes Architecture
- Build
- Design
- Deployment Configuration
- Understanding Security
- Exposing Applications
- Application Troubleshooting
- Closing and Evaluation Survey
-
Target Group
-
This course is aimed at experienced application developers who need to containerize, host, deploy and configure an application in a multi-node cluster.
-
Knowledge Prerequisites
-
Starting with a simple Python script, this course shows you how to define application resources and use core primitives to build, monitor, and troubleshoot scalable applications in Kubernetes. Working with network plugins, security and cloud storage, you will be exposed to many of the features required to deploy an application to a production environment.
In addition to this LFD459 training (alternatively LFD259 e-learning), the following Linux Foundation e-learnings are required for the Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) exam:
- Introduction to Cloud Infrastructure Technologies (LFS151) (free of charge)
- Introduction to Kubernetes (LFS158) (free of charge)
- Containers Fundamentals (LFS253)
The exact certification path can be found in the CKAD Curriculum Path.
-
Course Objective
-
The course, along with hands-on experience and study, provides the skills and knowledge that are also tested by the Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) exam.
-
Exam
The online proctored exam is taken on PSI's “Bridge” proctoring platform using the PSI Secure Browser (a web browser designed to ensure secure exam administration via a virtual connection). For more information, see the Linux Foundation's exam tips.
In addition, the exam gives you access to an exam simulator provided by Killer.sh. You have two simulation attempts (36 hours of access for each attempt from the start of activation). The simulation consists of 20-25 questions, which, unlike the actual exam, are exactly the same for each attempt and each user. The simulation provides graded results.
